Kick off your shoes and dive in (our bed)! Oh, before that, WELCOME TO PENANG!
You packed your (big) backpack with bigger dreams. That’s why you are!
Ready? Let’s go!
Extreme heat and humidity due to the Equinox phenomenon is happening right now so you’ll be all soaked in sweat much more than ever! To stay up against this weather, besides having our all-round cooling air-con whenever you stay indoor, is to always wear your sun screen and stay hydrated. Heat is taking youanother level if you are going to feel the “chi” of Internation Dragon Boat Competition. Details? Click HERE.
Spending your holiday exploring Penang is especially fun and interesting when scrumptious street foods are just around the corner. It is no kidding about “you should at least have 6 meals a day when you are in Penang” because there are just too much to try! Transfer Road Roti Canai (less than 100m away from our hotel main door), Rice Noodle Soup (a.k.a. Koay Teow Th’ng), Wanton Mee (or dumpling noodles), to Nasi Lemak along with Teh Tarik (iced tea) or Kopi-O Peng (iced Chinese black coffee), you name it!
Walk a little after a heavy breakfast to the nearest most happening place – CHOWRASTA to feel the energy of a traditional wet market. This colourful market is filled with multi-racial sellers so you can expect a big pot of different traditions. Ever seen real whole pork hanging in butchers’ shop? How about getting an up close look on making rice skin? Oh, did I tell you there are plenty more of food to try out here? Oops, sorry, just can’t help it but to promote food, food, food, and more food!
Penang has FREE SHUTTLE for visitors within the heritage site. It is called “Penang Hop On Free Central Area Transit (CAT)”. Go HERE to grab your routes advice.
Streets in George Town have their own names and stories. Should you like street arts, do not forget to hunt THESE wall murals and cartoons.
As night falls, UPPER PENANG ROAD is where you can find some good places for cold beers. Be it at the hawker centre (more food!), or some nice cosy bars and bistros, these walking distance hangout places is where good rounds of cheers and relaxing moments should be to wrap up the day. After that, head back to TIDO, have a shower and recharge for another adventure!
